THE BIG EGG HUNT IN AID OF ELEPHANT FAMILY
24 March - 27 April 2025
Last year Gary was approached by the charity 'Elephant Family' to create an egg for 'the largest egg hunt in the world'. He leapt at the chance to participate once his solo show at Mall Galleries was all done and dusted. You may remember he was involved in a similar event for 'The Elephant Parade' in 2010. That elephant sculpture sold for £12,500.
In February 2025, he adorned the blank canvas egg with some of his key elephant prints and surrounded and joined them together with many hundreds of strips of other prints to create an eye-catching design.
To make the egg truly special for collectors of his art, he embellished an 'Indian Elephants' print with many thousands of new pencil strokes to give a uniqueness and focal centrepiece to his egg. He loved the challenge and 'Swirling Elephants' was hatched.
From 24th March to 27th April, 2025, everyone is invited to find the 100+ scattered 2ft egg sculptures as part of a free-to-view trail across iconic locations and landmarks in London. From historic neighbourhoods like Chelsea, Canary Wharf, Covent Garden and Marble Arch, to famous cornerstones in London’s rich tapestry, such as Battersea Power Station, The Barbican, The British Museum and The Royal Albert Hall, each landmark provides the perfect backdrop to witness an exhibition like no other whilst exploring the Capital.
Members of the public will be able to “collect the eggs” they find, ticking them off on a free app which is set to reveal prizes along the way.
You can download ‘The Big Egg Hunt’ App now.
You can access the silent auction site here where you can bid to buy the eggs, with money raised going to support Elephant Family’s vital conservation work to protect habitats and wildlife in South Asia.
